Heat Pumps

In Wales, many homeowners and businesses are ‘off the grid’, thus heating their properties can be a costly. With the rising costs of oil, heat pumps offer a greener solution that has less environmental impact and means you can create your own heat and hot water from either the land, air or water around your property. The production of carbon dioxide and other gases from the burning of fossil fuels such as coal, oil and gas is believed to be a major contributor to the greenhouse effect and global climate change, causing the earth's average temperature to rise. A heat pump has renewable solar energy at its core, helping you contribute to a cleaner and greener environment.

Heat Pumps- The Benefits

Heat pumps are clever devices, which use the environment surrounding a building to provide a constant supply of energy that can be harnessed from the air, bedrock, ground or sustainable water supply to provide both central heating and/or hot water for our homes and organisations. With an expected lifespan of around 25 years, heat pumps can be considered a wise investment for now and for future generations.

Grants Available?

The Government has recognised how heat pumps can help reduce the effect of carbon emissions and is now offering an incentive through the Renewable Heat Premium Payment (RHPP).  From 1st August 2011, any homeowner in England, Wales and Scotland who has a property that is occupied, off the main gas grid and is their primary residence can apply for a grant of £1,250 towards the cost of installing a heat pump system.  For more information about the RHPP visit the Energy Saving Trust website.
