Will the generous feed-in-tarriff subsidies for solar PV end?
The Financial Times reported on 23rd September that the Government has privately indicated that the current generous subsidies offered under the feed-in tariffs could be reduced well before March 2013 - the original date set for a review of the rates.
Up to 41.3 pence per unit (kWh) of electricity generated from a solar PV system is currently being offered to home owners as a way of encouraging micro-generation. Consequently, generous returns and short pay-back periods are conferred.
